The Tasks
The Tyrolean government has the necessary special administrative structures and experts at its disposal to deal with the essential questions of the integration process. Therefore there are starting-points to cross-border or European aspects for many offices. The department „Außenbeziehungen“ has a key position, where all activities about European and foreign relations come together.
The Tasks according to the allocation of duties fo the Tyrol
- matters of foreign and integration policy
- relations to the EU, the Council of Europe and other organs of the regions and European or international institutions
- representing the European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentin in the EU
- matters of South Tyrol and the European Region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentin
- matters of European regional organisation and cross-border interregional cooperation, office of the ARGE ALP
- nformation activities in the field of European integration
- supporting EU projects
- development cooperation
- human rights
- cultural foreign relations
- Tyrol International – Tyrolean citizen in foreign countries
The Aims
- effective political advice by creating different information channels and the analytic catching up of the extensive flow of information
- maintenance and building up a network on relations to important officials of the EU, other regions and neighbouring states
- formulate a coherent Tyrolean European and neighbourhood policy through the coordination of special single positions and matching them with the Tyrolean interest groups
- lobbying of specific Tyrolean interests in European committees and taking influence on the decision making process
- implementing the concept of the European region Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentin as a model for a peaceful and future-oriented cross-border cooperation for the citizens
- strengthening the relations between the member countries of the European region by supporting contacts on all levels
- Europeanization of the region: Tyrol should be orientated to Europe and Europe to Tyrol
- inclusion of the citizens in the European integration process through imparting chances within the framework of an objective and active information about Europe
